🔢 Chronological Outdoor Tour:
1. Prague Castle – The 1618 Defenestration Site
Where it all began. Two Catholic regents were thrown from the Chancellery window.
There’s a plaque near the Old Royal Palace (inside Castle complex).
📍 Hradčany, Praha 1
2. Malá Strana Streets – Noble Assembly & Protestant Uprising
Protestant lords gathered in palaces around Thunovská and Vlašská Streets.
These streets were the staging ground for resistance right after the defenestration.
📍 Thunovská Street, 118 00 Malá Strana
3. St. Nicholas Church (Lesser Town) – Protestant vs. Jesuit Control
Originally Protestant-controlled, this church became a Jesuit stronghold post-revolt. It symbolizes the Catholic recapture of Prague.
📍 Malostranské náměstí, Praha 1
4. Charles Bridge – Protestant Troop Movements & Symbolic Border
Troops crossed here to reinforce the castle or control city sectors.
Also symbolic: the crossing from Protestant Old Town to Catholic-controlled Castle.
📍 Karlův most, Praha 1
5. Old Town Square – Site of Executions in 1621
After the defeat at the Battle of White Mountain (1620), 27 Protestant nobles were executed here by the Habsburgs.
Execution marks are still visible in the pavement in front of the Old Town Hall.
📍 Staroměstské náměstí, Praha 1
6. Klementinum (Exterior) – Jesuit Re-Catholicization Hub
A massive Jesuit college built up post-defeat to “re-convert” Bohemia to Catholicism.
Important for understanding the cultural suppression that followed.
📍 Mariánské náměstí, Praha 1
7. Karolinum (Charles University – Protestant Purge)
The university was purged of Protestant faculty after 1620.
The building still stands and has informative plaques.
